On this Year's Diwali eve, The US President has lit up first-ever Diya in the Oval office of the White House. These celebrations took place in the presence of some of Indian-origin Americans who were working in the White House.
Obama claims he is proud to be the first US President to host Diwali celebration in the White House. He could never forget how Indians welcomed him and first lady Michelle with open arms and danced with them in Mumbai on Diwali. 'I'm honoured to kindle first-ever diya in the Oval Office. I wish you and your loved ones peace and happiness on this Diwali,' he says on the Facebook page of White House, hoping that future presidents of US would continue this tradition.
