Use Rs 500 & Rs 1000 notes to pay Tax & Penalty

Soon after announcing demonetisation, Government of India informed Citizens could still use the old currency notes with high denominations to buy petrol, medicines, rail ticket, airline ticket, metro ticket, LPG cylinder, treatment in government hospitals and burial grounds/crematoriums.
On Thursday, Centre has given some more relief to the common man upon receiving the feedback. It announced old Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes could be used to pay utility bills such as water and electricity bills, taxes, penalty, State or Central Governments fees till November 11th midnight.
Economic Affairs Secretary Shaktikanta Das confirmed the new exemptions on Twitter.
