Founder of Hero cycles is No more

Om Prakash Munjal, Co-Chairman of Hero Cycles Ltd and a leading industrialist passed away in Ludhiana on Thursday. He was 87.Mr Munjal breathed his last in the DMC Hero Heart Centre. He is survived by a son and four daughters.
Munjal's cremation will take place on Friday in the Model Town Extension Cremation ground in Ludhiana. Munjal is the founder and the current chairman of Hero Cycles Limited, the worldâs largest integrated bicycle manufacturing company
Om started Hero Cycles with a capital of Rs.50,000 in 1956 raised as a bank loanIn the 1980s, Hero Cycles became the largest bicycle manufacturer in the world and was registered with Guinness Book of World Records in 1986 for this feat. Hero Cycles today produces around 19000 bicycles per day. He has ventured into newer business fields including luxury hotels and four-wheeler components.
