On New Year, India reports fewer fresh Covid-19 infections

India started the new year 2021 with good news as the fresh Coronavirus has come down rapidly. The daily toll of fresh pandemic infections has been decreasing rapidly for days.
According to the information shared by the Union Health Ministry, India recorded 20,035 fresh infections in the past 24 hours, which takes the country's caseload to 10,286,709.
In a piece of good news, a total of 9,883,461 patients have been recovered from the pandemic so far, including 23,181 patients who were declared cured of the virus in the past 24 hours.
On the other hand, 256 patients have succumbed to the virus in the past 24 hours, pushing the total toll of casualties related to the respiratory disease to 148,994 with a mortality rate of 1.45 percent.
Looking at the vaccination program, three vaccines are in the development stage in India. Besides, this America's Pfizer Inc and AstraZeneca are also expected to get a nod from the union government for the emergency use.
Globally, a total of 83,764,622 have been diagnosed with respiratory disease, while 59,298,311 have been recovered from the pandemic. The virus has claimed not less than 1,824,252 lives.
