SonyLIV, owned by Sony Pictures Networks India Pvt. Ltd faced a super success with the critically acclaimed Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story, based on the fall and rise of the Indian flamboyant stockbroker Harshad Mehta.

The season was well received by the viewers, thanks for the tight screenplay and direction. Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story had also received a good rating on IMDB with 9.6 ratings. The series had surpassed 'Breaking Bad', 'Chernobyl', and 'Game of Thrones' in the ratings.

Now the Applause Entertainment production house is all set to entertain the viewers with yet another multi-crore scam that shocked the nation. Hansal Mehta will be helming the series.

It is said that Applause Entertainment's next venture would be based on the 2003 Stamp Paper Scam by Abdul Karim Telgi. The series is likely to be based on Sanjay Singh's Reporter Ki Dairy.

Abdul Karim Telgi was convicted of printing counterfeit stamp paper in India. His life story traces the story of a person's journey who was born in a typical middle-class family in Karnataka who later went to became the convict in a scam worth Rs 20,000 crore.

The stamp paper scam had spread to various states in the country and became the much-talked-about scam then. Telgi and others involved in the scam were sentenced to 30 years of rigorous imprisonment by the court. He died in 2007 due to multiple organ failure in 2017.

According to the information, the series will hit the floors for shooting later this year and might be streamed by next year. The series will have the screenplay from Kiran Yadnyopavit and Sanjay Singh.
