The craze for US visas among Indians is brutal and no matter what, the craze would not come down. Recently, it was reported that it takes over one and a half years to get a visa application. This is for a visitor's visa. However, students' visa gets application in lesser time.

Despite the long waiting period and lack of staff to accommodate the flood of applications, the number of visa applications is not coming down. Moreover, the numbers are increasing with each passing year. Compared to the previous year, the fiscal year 2023 saw a big spike in visa applications.

As per the official data shared by the United States Immigration Services agency, the department received as many as 483,927 applications. The previous year, not less than 483,927 applications were received. After a lot of filtration, 85,000 applications were confirmed.

However, for the fiscal year, the administration reportedly decided to grant only 65,000 H-1B visas. The concerned authorities reportedly sent as many as 1,27,000 applications to the next level after filtration.

Drawing a comparison between the previous year and the next fiscal year, the visa applications have increased by more than one lakh, while the cap of visas came down by over 20,000.

Looking at the current developments, the next fiscal year might see fewer H-1B Visa applications getting approved. Though more than one lakh applications were selected and sent for the next stage in the process, there is a chance that the majority of them would get canceled based on merit.

More than four lakh applications were received by the department as of now. As the administration reportedly decided to grant only 65,000 visas, we can expect more than four lakh applications to get canceled. The status of applications would be sent to the concerned applicants.

With the fixed quota reaching the Visa applicants, there is no possibility that the authorities would do a second round of selections via lottery. The authorities would grant 65,000 H-1B visas and 20,000 H-1B visa US advanced degree exemption. So the balance applications would be canceled and the applicants would be informed about this.
