Oscars Row: Will Smith to face a ban for a Decade

Hollywood Superstar Will Smith became the centre of attraction at the recently concluded Oscars 2022 ceremony for the wrong reason. His behaviour made many heads turn. The reason for this is that Will Smith is known for his calm and composed nature. But he came out of the zone on the stage.

Annoyed with veteran comedian Chris Rock cracking a joke on his wife Jada Pinkett Smith on her shaved head owing to her health condition, Smith vented out his anger and slapped Chris Rock on the stage and asked him to not say that again. This shocked everyone.

Many stars and filmmakers had criticised Will Smith for his behaviour. Despite Will Smith issuing an apology, he had to face the heat as the Board of Governors took a shocking decision on Will Smith as far as the slapping incident is concerned.

In a statement, the Board of Governors for the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences said that Will Smith has to face a ban of 10 years for his rude behaviour as the Academy had voted for his ban. This says that Will Smith cannot take part in any event or program related to the Oscars either personally or virtually.

The Board said that the decision was taken at the meeting which was held on what action should be taken against Will Smith on the Oscars stage issue. The body said that, despite accepting the resignation submitted by the actor, a ban of 10 years has been imposed on the actor.

Will Smith will remember the recently held 94th Oscars hosted by the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles throughout his career for two reasons. One is a happy reason as he had received the Oscars for 'King Richard' for the category of best actor in a leading role. This is the first such award for the actor. Looking at the current developments, it might be his last one too.

The second reason is that Will Smith was banned from participating in any event related to the Oscars for 10 years. Even if he gives his career-best performance in any of his upcoming films, he cannot get another Oscar for the coming 10 years.
