During the tough times of the ongoing pandemic and the new strains of Coronavirus posing a threat to the world, the vaccine developed by Oxford-AstraZeneca as a collaboration was approved by Britain, and few more countries including India are expected to approve the vaccine for emergency use.

However, several experts have raised their doubts on whether the Coronavirus vaccine can tackle the new lineages of the virus or not and several new mutations of the virus were detected so far.

Sir John Bell, a professor at the famous Oxford University, which joined hands with British-Swedish multinational pharmaceutical AstraZeneca to manufacture the vaccine cleared all the airs on the doubts.

He said the vaccine developed by them will protect against the new strain of viruses too, and there is no need to worry about this. The Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine could be retooled to tackle the new strain of the virus.

The professor's comments on the vaccine potential came when the new strain of the virus surfaced in the United Kingdom has is gaining the attention of the entire world. The new strain is more transmissible than the previous one.

Adding further, he said the vaccines developed by using the Ribonucleic acid (RNA) technology will help the scientists in provoking the immune response of the people who take the vaccine.

Compared to vaccine manufacturing, the vaccine development process takes less time as it needs only to make some changes to manufactured vaccines. If such changes are needed, we are ready to make them, John Bell said.
