In a tragic incident, not less than 22 patients have breathed their last on Wednesday after their oxygen supply was interrupted. The shocking incident was reported at a civic hospital.

Going into detail, oxygen supply was interrupted at the Zakir Hussain municipal hospital in the Nashik region of Maharashtra. The incident has resulted in at least 22 patients losing their lives.

Taking to microblogging site Twitter, News Agency ANI shared a video of leakage in oxygen storage plant, while the tankers are being filled with oxygen. This caused an interruption in the oxygen supply.

In the words of district collector Suraj Mandhare, the patients were kept on ventilator supply and oxygen supply when the oxygen was interrupted due to the leakage in oxygen supply.

The Zakir Hussain municipal hospital, a dedicated Covid facility has a total of around 150 patients who were dependent on the oxygen supply. To see that the remaining patients were not affected by the interruption, the officials have shifted cylinders from other facilities.

"As per the information available with us, patients who were on ventilators at the hospital in Nashik have died. The leakage was spotted at the oxygen tank which was supplying oxygen to these patients. The interrupted supply could be linked to the deaths of the patients in the hospital," Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope said.

He went on to say that, the government will look into the matter and conducted a detailed probe into the matter to know the reason behind the leakage at the oxygen plant.
