Why You Need Aadhaar To Buy Condom?
By: Tupaki Desk | 23 Dec 2017 12:45 PM GMTAt the Mood Indigo Festival in IIT Mumbai, Former Finance Minister P Chidambaram ridiculed the move of NDA Government to get everything linked to Aadhaar. 'A Man and Woman went on a holiday. They are unmarried. What's wrong in it? If the Man wishes to buy a condom, Why should he furnish his Aadhaar details?,' he questioned.
Chidambaram further added, 'Why does Government want to know what kind of medicines an individual buy? What kind of films he/she watch? In which hotel they stay? Who are their friends?'.
The Ex-Union Minister made it clear he wouldn't reveal personal details if he is part of the Government. Chidambaram received a counter from Infosys chairman NR Narayana Murthy in the same festival. Mr.Murthy opined whatever Chidambaram has spoken can be found on Google itself. At the same time, He stressed Government has the responsibility to safeguard the privacy of individuals. 'An Act should be introduced in Parliament to prevent hacking of Aadhaar,' he said.
On the other hand, Chidambaram claimed he hasn't linked his Aadhaar with Bank Accounts. He appealed everyone to wait for the judgment of 5-member SC Judges on January 17th next year.
Narayana Murthy maintained there willn't be any objections if there are laws to safeguard privacy. He felt Aadhaar details for booking a film ticket or obtaining something else is unnecessary.
