Chidambaram's Son Arrested By CBI

CBI on Wednesday arrested former Finance Minister P Chidambaram's Son Karti Chidambaram in Chennai for allegedly accepting bribes from the media firm INX Media to help it obtain foreign investments.
The 46-Year-Old was arrested at Chennai Airport after his return from the London trip. Upon grilling him for sometime at the Airport, He was brought to Delhi for further interrogation and there is a possibility of producing him in court Today.
According to the CBI, Karti Chidambaram received bribe to the tune of Rs 10 crore from INX Media. The media firm used the influence of Karti to nullify the impact of tax probe against it for violation of FIPB norms to receive investment from Mauritius. Raids had been conducted at houses and offices of Karti Chidambaram, Peter and Indrani Mukerjea who owned INX Media.
Chidambarams, however, deny the money laundering charges. Congress Party sees the arrest of Karti as a political vendetta by BJP to shift the focus of people from the corruption charges after PNB scam got exposed.
