As per HSBC Group's Value of Education report, Indian Parents have been spending Rs 12.22 lakh for the education of each child till Plus-2. Expenses such as Tuition Fee, Books, Accommodation and Transport were included in this amount.

59 Percent of Indian Parents use a portion of their salary for Children's Education. In addition, 32 Percent of Parents does over-time for the same cause.

The spending of Indian Parents on education is very less compared to the global average. Hong Kong Parents lead with expenditure of Rs 85.42 lakh per each child. While UAE is at 2nd Spot with Rs 64.22 lakh, Singapore stood at No.3 Position with Rs 45.85 lakh. Whereas, Indian Parents are at 13th Position in the World.

As many as 8,000 Parents from 15 Nations took part in Value of Education survey. Parents opined rising unemployment has increased the importance of quality education and hence sacrifices have been made to fund it. In India, 9 out 10 Parents want their children to complete Post Graduation.
