Parties paying only lip service to Vizag Steel Plant issue
By: Tupaki Desk | 9 Feb 2021 6:38 AM GMTWhere is the Vizag Steel Plant agitation heading for? This is the question that is tormenting everyone involved in the stir against the privatisation of the Vizag Steel Plant. Though there is considerable support for the agitation, there is no unity among the major political parties.
While every major political party was aware of the developments, they remained silent all these years. Every political party was aware that Posco company was going to take over the VSP. Yet, they did not utter a word. Now that popular anger is building up against the privatisation move, the parties are adjusting their sails. But, even now, differences persist.
The TDP is criticising the YSRCP for doing nothing. The YSRCP on the other hand, is careful not to annoy the BJP. It has not criticised the BJP so far. Even the TDP is sparing the BJP in the hope that it might have a political alliance with it in future. The Jana Sena is protesting but there isn't much on the ground. The Left parties are staging dharnas and protests. But, the mobilisation is very poor. Except for some trade unionists, there aren't many persons present at the dharna sites.
