Ramana, who was an MLA, an MP and a minister in the TDP era, did not win an election since 2014. Though he was the president of the Telangana unit of the TDP, the post meant nothing as the party is a former shadow of itself. The key leaders have already left the party to join the TRS. Leaders like Errabelli Dayakar Rao and Talasani, who left the TDP long ago, have now become his seniors.
Even after knowing that the chances of a TDP revival are slim, he has patiently remained the TDP president. He patiently waited for his time. Soon after Eatala Rajender rebelled against the TRS boss, L Ramana found that he has a chance of coming back to the limelight. KCR promised him an MLC seat and invited him into the TRS as a counterweight to Eatala.
Now Ramana is an MLC. He can enjoy the post for another six years. He would be an MLA till 2027. What more? If luck favours him, he could even become a minister in KCR’s cabinet. From a certain oblivion to another go at power, Ramana has proved himself to be very lucky.
