Payyavula's silence baffles TDP leadership
By: Tupaki Desk | 26 Jun 2021 8:11 AM GMTPayyavula Keshav, one of the firebrand leaders and a strident voice of the TDP both within and outside the house is strangely silent. Known for his strong speeches and powerful interventions, this key leader of the TDP, is not showing active interest in the proceedings of the house.
Keshav is a three-time MLA from Uravakonda. He had won in 1994, 2004, and 2009. Even his father was a three-time MLA from the same constituency. However, when the TDP swept AP in 2014, he had lost the election to YSRCP’s Visweswar Reddy. Even then, Chandrababu made him an MLC. However, Chandrababu did not make him a minister in his cabinet. There was lot of heartburn even within the party when Payyavula and Dhulipalla Narendra were left out of the cabinet. Keshav was quite upset over this.
In 2019, Keshav had won from Uravakonda with a decent majority. Since then, he has been largely silent and has not shown any inclination to take on the YSRCP in the assembly. One gets a feeling that he is coming to the house only for the sake of attendance. Even when he was attacked on the Amaravati lands issue, he merely said that the Government should conduct a probe into the allegations. Even when his close pal Dhulipalla Narendra was arrested, there was no statement from Payyavula. Even on the three capitals issue, he has not made any statement.
Quite interestingly, even the YSRCP both in Ananapur and at the state-level have stopped targeting Payyavula. Sources say that the YSRCP leaders have instructions from above not to attack Payyavula. There is a buzz that he could meet YS Jagan at the right time and announce his joining of the party. His quitting would be a huge jolt for the TDP, say those in the know of things.
