It is known that the Covid has impacted us in a big way and many people have experienced cuts in their salaries. Many people have lost their jobs and turned unemployed. People with such issues paying traffic challans will increase their burden. Considering all these factors, the Hyderabad Traffic Department had come up with a good idea.

The Traffic Department announced massive discounts on pending challans towards the vehicles. The discount varies from vehicle to vehicle if they are two-wheelers or three-wheelers or four-wheelers. The initiative taken by the Hyderabad Traffic Police Department is proving to be successful.

Proving its success, the initiative had earned as much as over Rs200 crore for the state economy. With the massive discount available, the vehicles owners have been paying the challans which is resulting in lakhs coming and falling as profits.

As of now, around 1.2 crores of the pending challans have been cleared by the vehicle owners due to the available discounts. The Hyderabad Police Commissionerate tops the list in terms of income with the pending challans with around Rs 49.6 crores, followed by Cyberabad Police Commissionerate(Rs 45.8 crore), Rachakonda Commissionerate( Rs 15.3 crore).

The discounts on the pending challan announced by the Hyderabad Traffic Police Department came into existence from the start of this month and would last till the 31st of this month. With around two weeks pending in the month, the profits from the challan payment are expected to go further up.

The discount announced by the departments is 75 percent for the two-wheelers and three-wheelers and 50 percent for cars and heavy vehicles. Coming to the buses run by the state-owned transport body Telangana State Road Transport Corporation(TSRTC) the discount goes up to 70 percent.

On the other hand, the pushcarts were given an 80 percent discount. Those who were fined for not wearing the facemasks in public places will get the highest discount with as much as 90 percent.

The initiative has been seeing a good number of challans getting cleared. On day one of the initiative, as many as more than 5 lakh challans were cleared and the challan amount is more than Rs 5 crore.
