The Hitex Convention Centre in the Telangana capital city Hyderabad became the venue for the much-awaited Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) plenary meeting. With the TRS party cadre and party workers making elaborate arrangements for the meeting, the pearl city became a pink city with the TRS party flags waving all over the city.

At the plenary meeting, Telangana Chief Minister Kalvakuntla Chandrashekhar Rao was once again elected as the party chief and the election was unanimous. Having led the party for more than a decade, KCR has been instrumental in taking TRS towards victory in two consecutive elections. For the ninth time, KCR won as the TRS President.

As an interesting point in the Plenary meeting, KCR addressed the gathering amid much fanfare from the crowd and the invitees. During the state agitation, people expressed doubts on whether Telangana would prosper. But we proved those doubts wrong by going through a good development, KCR said.

At the meeting, CM KCR spoke highly about the flagship schemes implemented by the government and said the other states are looking at the schemes and copying them in their respective states. KCR even said that he is receiving requests from the other states to bring the schemes implemented by TRS in their states too. The demands of merging the constituencies in Telangana were also received, KCR told the gathering.

KCR said that constituencies in Maharashtra and Karnataka expressed interest in merging with Telangana. Without giving any names, KCR said five constituencies from the two states want to merge into the state. We are also getting requests from Andhra Pradesh to start TRS in the state. His comments gained significance ahead of the much-awaited Huzurabad by-election.

Experts say that KCR might have indirectly targeted YS Sharmila who is on a Padayatra in Telangana to gain a political image in the state.

Talking about the invitees for the meeting, more than 6,000 people were said to have received the invitation. The major areas in the city saw traffic diversions for the meeting. The pearl city Hyderabad donned Pink colour with the party workers erecting flexies and hoardings. 29 dishes were prepared for the invitees.
