People Taking Medical Council Suggestion Seriously
By: Tupaki Desk | 24 March 2020 2:11 PM GMTThe Indian Council of Medical Research(ICMR) which has been testing many medicines to fight the Covid-19 pandemic has recommended the use of the hydroxy-chloroquine for treating the novel coronavirus for the high-risk cases as the virus is fast spreading.
The ICMR National Task Force said only high-risk cases can be placed under chemoprophylaxis with hydroxy-chloroquine.
"Hydroxychloroquine is recommended only for a healthcare worker who is treating a #COVID patient. Secondly, it's recommended only for persons staying and caring for a household positive patient. They can take that only for prophylaxis, only for prevention," ICMR Director-General Balram Bhargava said.
The recommendation of the Indian Council has resulted in the scarcity of the medicine. Everyone started using medicine without proper doctor prescription and advice.
Following this, the governments of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana made it clear that the chloroquine medicines should not be sold without doctor suggestion and if anyone sells the medicine or buy them legal action will be taken against them.
