Places Of Worship Likely To Be Reopened From Monday In Maharashtra

These reports came a week after Shiv Sena supremo, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray hinting at reopening of the places of worship while wishing the public for Diwali festivals.
Addressing the media, Uddhav Thackeray said Standard Operating Procedures or SOPs will be released soon on the reopening of places of worship. In addition to that wearing face masks and physical distance should be followed.
Talking about not permitting the religious places in the state, the Chief Minister said the decision was taken to curb the rise in the fresh infections of the novel Coronavirus.
The religious places across the country were closed after the Union Government imposed a nationwide lockdown to tackle the spread of the novel Coronavirus.
Under the unlock guidelines, the Centre has permitted the states to allow the religious places to reopen. While many states have come forward to do so, Maharashtra didn't permit the religious places.
Maharashtra, the worst-hit state in the country with the Covid-19 outbreak has reported as many as 4,132 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, pushing the total cases to 17,40,461.
