PM Chairs Meeting With Chief Ministers Amid Covid fear in the country

In this backdrop, Prime Minister Narendra Modi called for a meeting with the Chief Ministers of the states. The meeting was held through video conferencing, which is underway.
The meeting was chaired to discuss the pandemic situation in the country and stressed the importance of curbing the infections and asked the states to follow the steps without fail.
It is said that the Prime Minister warned the states that if the Coronavirus spread is not stopped, the pandemic could lead to a nationwide outbreak and said there is a need to take decisive steps.
Narendra Modi said, the testing facilities in the small cities have to be increased and urged the states to take special care of the small cities. Virus Should Not Reach Rural India, Testing To Increase in Tier-2, Tier-3 Cities, he said.
"Today in India more than 96% of the cases have recovered. India is one of those countries where the fatality rate is one of the lowest," Narendra Modi told the Chief Ministers.
Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and Bhupesh Baghel, the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh have skipped Narendra Modi's meeting.
Last time, Narendra Modi chaired a meeting with the Chief Ministers was to discuss the vaccine roll-out before the first phase of the vaccination drive. Health workers and Corona warriors were vaccinated in the first phase.
