In the wake of the toxic gas leakage in Visakhapatnam of Andhra Pradesh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a meeting with the officials of National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA)

The tragic incident that happened at the LG Polymers India plant at R.R. Venkatapuram village of Visakhapatnam resulted in the deaths of seven people, including a minor reportedly.

It has been widely reported that around 2,000 people fell seriously ill, while 200 people were admitted to the hospital for treatment after they developed symptoms of breathing difficulties and burning sensation in the eyes.

The Prime Ministers Office(PMO) confirmed the review meeting and said: "In the wake of the situation in Visakhapatnam, PM Narendra Modi has called for a meeting of the NDMA at 11 a.m.,

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah expressed shock over the sad and tragic incident. Modi took to Twitter to pray for everyone 's safety.

'Spoke to officials of MHA (Ministry of Home Affairs) and NDMA (National Disaster Management Authority) regarding the situation in Visakhapatnam, which is being monitored closely. I pray for everyone's safety and well-being in Visakhapatnam," Modi's Tweet read.

"The incident in Vizag is disturbing. Have spoken to the NDMA officials and concerned authorities. We are continuously and closely monitoring the situation," Amit Shah's Tweet read.
