When Modi took charge as Gujarat CM, the state was going through tough times due to the Bhuj earthquake. He handled the situation and gained the trust of the public in the state.
The development he brought in Gujarat gave the required boost-up for the BJP to overthrow the Congress at the Centre. In the 2014 elections, the BJP banked high on the Gujarat model.
