Prime Minister Narendra Modi's mother Heeraben Modi who is 100 years old passed away in the early hours of Friday. She passed away days after getting admitted to a hospital facility. Earlier this week she was admitted to a facility in Ahmedabad. Narendra Modi went to see her.

Sadly she passed away and condolence messages started pouring in for the family members. From politicians to film stars to common people, everyone is mourning her death. Narendra Modi shares a good bonding with his mother and many times he recalled the tough time they had in his childhood.

Narendra Modi's mother's funeral was held today and he carried the mortal remains following the tradition. His family members were also present on the last rites and bid the last goodbye to Heeraben.

Her last rites were held at the Gandhinagar crematorium. Gandhinagar is the area where Narendra Modi spent most of his time with his family. Until he became the Prime Minister of India Modi stayed there. She recently celebrated her 100th birthday.

"When I met her on her 100th birthday, she said one thing, which I always remembered that is, work with intelligence and live life with purity," Recalling meeting his mother on her 100th birthday, Modi said on Twitter.

Narendra Modi and his brother reached the crematorium and lit the pyre to give the last goodbye to her mother. After finishing the formalities Narendra Modi left the place and took part in the events and programs he was supposed to attend. People are talking about his dedication now.

As per the schedule, Narendra Modi was supposed to reach West Bengal to flag off the Vande Bharat Express which travels between Howrah and New Jalpaiguri. To not miss the event Narendra Modi flagged off the train virtually.

Congratulating the people of West Bengal for the express, Prime Minister Narendra Modi apologised for not being able to meet the people directly. The Chief Ministers in the state reacted to the sad news and sent condolences messages to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his family. The likes of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin condoled her death.
