Modi Is Fantastic, But We Get Nothing: Trump
By: Tupaki Desk | 27 Feb 2018 9:50 AM GMTAmerican President Donald Trump made satirical remarks on Indian PM Narendra Modi again. While speaking at the gathering of governors of all states.. he said that "The prime minister(Narendra Modi) is a fantastic man, called me the other day and said we are lowering import duty on motorcycles to 50%. I said okay, but so far we're getting nothing. So we get nothing. He gets 50%, and they think like they're doing us a favour. That's not a favour"
Trump continued "He said it so beautifully. He's a beautiful man.. he said, 'I just want to inform you that we have reduced it to 75%, but we have further reduced it to 50%'. And I said, huh. What do I say? Am I supposed to be thrilled?" Trump said the US gets 'zero' when it buys an Indian motorcycle. He said that there should be fair trade between two countries and India's high import duty on American motorcycles is unfair.
It is known that Trump is acting strictly with all the countries that the US have trade relations. If any country is imposing high import duty, Trump is also planning to impose import duty on their exports to the US. In another incident last week, Trump criticised India and China and said that the USA backed out of Paris Agreement on climate control because of them.
