Narendra Modi is following the Chaturmas vow. With the chaturmas this year from July 27 to November 22, the Prime Minister will be sticking to the routine of eating once a day.
Modi is visiting US in September and he will stick to dietary routine even during his New York visit. Chaturmas is four months in the Hindu lunar calendar and people take vows and fast.
Prime Minister, who is known to drink only water during the Navaratri festival for nine days every year, has been observing this one-meal-a-day norm for at least ten years.
