Police Prevent Man's Suicide After Facebook Alerts Them
By: Tupaki Desk | 9 Sep 2020 6:57 AM GMTA 24-year-old man from West Bengal's Nadia district, who returned home after losing his job due to the pandemic, attempted suicide by cutting his wrist on Monday. Before attempting suicide, he posted a video on Facebook saying he was going to kill himself.
Facebook authorities contacted the Kolkata Police cyber cell at around 1.30 am on Monday through an email after noticing the video posted by him.
The police officials found some phone numbers that were used while creating the profile. By using social engineering, they found the location of the person also got the phone number of his father.
They contacted the man's father and briefed him about the situation. The father rushed to his son's room and saved him. Meanwhile, a team of policemen rushed to the man's house from Bhimpur police station and took him to a nearby hospital. He was treated and was later discharged.
