Political equations are changing very fast in Pithapuram assembly constituency of East Godavari district. Sitting YSRCP MLA Pendem Dorababu is playing truant and is not available in the constituency. His PA Chakri is ruling the roost. He is said to be alienating the voters and party leaders alike with his abrasive ways. As if this was not enough, sitting Kakinada MP Vanga Geetha is eyeing the Pithapuram seat.

Due to all this, the politics in the constituency is in a state of flux. There is confusion all around and know one knows who will join which party in the days to come.

Dorababu has been an MLA on BJP ticket and later on the PRP ticket. In 2019, he had contested on the YSRCP ticket and had won handsomely. However, after his election, he has not kept in touch with his constituency and is said to spending most of the time outside. As a result, his PA Chakri as become a very important person. However, there is a lot of resentment over his style of functioning.

Meanwhile, Vanga Geetha, who is Kakinada MP, is planning to contest from Pithapuram in 2024. She is said to have approached the party leadership with this request. The party high command is said to be conducting a survey to see if Geetha can win the elections if given a ticket. At the same time the party is also examining if Dorababu should be given the ticket or not.

Meanwhile the TDP and the Jana Sena too are making their moves on Pithapuram. They are trying to explore the chances of their respective candidates in the constituency. Kakinada MLA Dwarampudi Chandrasekhara Reddy is said to be rooting for Vanga Geetha.
