Ponguleti + Eatala = confusion in TRS?
X
For politicians, even innocuous occasions like wedding receptions too are political indicators of their mood and intent. Former MP and TRS leader Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy has sent a clear political message about his future plans through the wedding reception of his daughter. There were not many TRS leaders at the wedding reception. Instead, former minister and BJP MLA Eatala Rajender was present at the programme.

Eatala's presence is not an ordinary matter and the visit can by no means be called a formal incident. After all, Eatala is the convener of the joinings committee of the BJP and is actively working to bring prominent leaders from other political parties into the BJP as part of efforts aimed at wresting power from the TRS. He is already in touch with several disgruntled TRS leaders.

Pongulti has reasons to be upset with the TRS leadership. In 2014, he joined the TRS and played a key role in the victory of the party in the local body elections. However, in the 2019 elections, he was asked to stand down in favour of Nama Nageswara Rao as the party MP candidate from Khammam. But, the party did not reward him for the sacrifice. Since then, Ponguleti has been sulking. locally, both MP Nama Nageswara Rao and minister Puvvada Ajay have been consolidating their positions. They are using every opportunity to weaken Ponguleti.

Since then, Ponguleti has been in touch with the BJP. He has been trying to send enough indications to the party top leadership about his unhappiness at being ignored. The presence of Eatala and the absence of party colleagues at the wedding reception of his daughter is being seen as an indication of the direction that he is going to take in the coming days.
