Pragathi Bhavan house tax not paid for last five years!!!

The Telangana government is insisting that the citizens pay up their taxes on time so that the state coffers have sufficient money for taking up developmental works. In fact, the government officials, especially the GHMC officials are throwing garbage in front of the tax defaulters to force them to cough up the tax amounts.

But, do you know the seat of the highest authority in Telangana, the Pragathi Bhavani, has not been paying the taxes for the past five years? The Pragathi Bhavan, the camp office of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao, has defaulted payment of taxes. The total dues are around Rs 25.49 lakhs.

Not just that. There are around 2500 government assets, including offices, buildings, ministers’ chambers etc in Hyderabad alone. These assets have to pay an annual tax of Rs 102 crore. The total amount works out to Rs 714 crore for the last seven years. These amounts too have not been paid up to the GHMC.

The issue was raised by Congress corporator Uppal corporator and Congress leader Rajitha Parameshwar Reddy in the GHMC council meet on Tuesday. She said the government, which was penalising the people for non-payment of taxes is a shameless defaulter for the last seven years. She wanted the government to pay up the tax arrears at the earliest.
