Praja Kutami Agrees On 75 Seats, Remaining Seats Are Still A Problem

The Congress, TDP, TJS and the CPI are engaged in endless parleys over the seat-sharing for Telangana assembly. The talks are getting longer and the time is getting shorter. But, each side is adamant about the seats. The talks that began on Wednesday night went on till Thursday morning. Again, the party leaders met on Thursday afternoon to discuss seat adjustments. Congress affairs incharge for Telangana RC Kunthia, TPCC chief Uttam Kumar Reddy, TDP's LV Ramana, TJS chief Kodanda Ram and CPI's Chada Venkat Reddy and other key leaders participated in these hectic parleys.

As of now there is clarity only about 11 seats. The Congress is ready to give 12 seats to the TDP, six to seven to the TJs and four to five to the CPI. The four parties are likely to arrive at a final decision by Saturday night or Sunday. It is being said that there is already agreement over 70 to 75 seats. The Congress is undecided about seats like Husnabad, Bellampalli, Kothagudem, Wyra, Munugode and Devarakonda where CPI is also staking its claims. The TJS might get Malkajgiri, Chennur and Mudhole. It is asking for three more seats - Warangal East, Ellareddy and Tandur. But, the Congress is still undecided. Seven seats where the TDP might contest have also been cleared. They are Kukatpalli, Uppal, Sattupalli, Aswaraopet, Makthal, Charminar and Malakpet. The TDP is also demanding LB Nagar, Maheswaram, Serilingampelli, Rajendranagar, Kodad, Khammam, Nizamabad rural, Patancheru, Secunderabad, Sanatnaga, Musheerabad, Devarakadra and Mahabubnagar constituencies.

The parties might come out with a statement on these seats. A Congress leader said that the Praja Kutami is deliberately delaying the announcement to prevent the TRS from poaching the Opposition leaders. We want the TRS to fall into our trap and not the otherway round
