Suddenly, the narrative about West Bengal is changing and the rabid, fundamentalist rhetoric is no longer the in thing in the Trinamool Congress. Suddenly, one sees Trinamool MP Nusrat Jahan sports a bindi and should Jai Hind. Another MP Mimi Chakravarthy touches the feet of Mulayam Singh Yadav in a show of respect to the elders. Then another Trinamool MP Mahua Moitra becomes famous for her speech about fascism. These three women MPs get wide publicity and everyone is talking about them.
Know the reason behind this sudden turnaround? It's Prashant Kishore. Yes. He has devised a plan of action to give an image makeover to the Trinamool Congress. It's belligerence is suddenly gone and the sober faces are being projected. And they are being given wide publicity.
Prashant Kishore has launched a massive outreach programme called 'Youth in Politics.' This is meant to attract non-committal youth who do not belong to any party, but are sprightly, aware and articulate. PK plans to have at least 5 lakh of them by Septembe and then organise special training courses for them. Though ostensibly he is saying that these trained human resources can join any party they like, the reality is that all of them will join the TMC and work for Mamta Didi. Trinamool workers are working overtime to recruit the youth. So, one will get to see lot of such image softening plans from Prashant Kishore for Mamta Didi.
