President's brother dies after axe attack
By: Tupaki Desk | 28 March 2015 7:28 AM GMTSri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena's youngest brother Priyantha Sirisena died on Saturday in a hospital. He was attacked with an axe on Thursday and admitted in the hospital in Colombo.
Sirisena aged 40 and he was survived by three children. He was attacked owing to a personal dispute on Thursday night in his hometown. Sirisena suffered severe head injuries after he was attacked by a person with axe. He was airlifted to Colombo from Polonnaruwa on same night.
Priyantha Sirisena was the youngest in a family of 12 children. The president is out of the country on a state visit to China. The attacker is a friend of the deceased and he has been arrested and remanded.
Maithripala Sirisena elected as president in last January . He trounced President Mahinda Rajapaksa in the tightest-ever presidential race, ending his 10-year-rule.
