Pressure on YSRCP leaders to resign over Prakasam reorganisation
By: Tupaki Desk | 7 Feb 2022 7:55 PM ISTThe YS Jagan Government's decision to reorganise Prakasam district is creating problems for he YSRCP leaders in the district. The local YSRCP leaders are running for cover. Many are finding it difficult to reach out to the people. Yet others have openly backed the people protesting the reorganisation.
Prakasam district presently has 12 assembly constituencies. Of them, seven constituencies are in the Ongole Lok Sabha constituency. One assembly constituency is in Nellore Lok Sabha constituency and four in Bapatla lok sabha constituency. Under the new reorganisation proposed by YS Jagan Mohan Reddy government, Santanuthalapadu, which is part of Bapatla Lok Sabha constituency, has been included under Ongole district.
But Addanki and Parchur, which are part of Prakasam, are included in Bapatla. This has led to lot of heartburn among the people of these two constituencies. Addanki and parts of Parchur are very close to Ongole. If the proposed division becomes a reality, the district headquarters would be very far off for the people of these constituencies. Already YSRCP Addanki constituency incharge B Krishna Chaitanya wrote to the government against the proposed division.
According to sources, the people of Kandukuru are also deeply unhappy. Kandukuru is close to Ongole, but is included in Nellore, which is 100 km away. As a result, the people of the constituency are demanding YSRCP MLA Mahidhar Reddy to resign from his post. Similar pressures are on minister Adimulapu Suresh, MLAs Anna Rambabu, Nagarjuna Reddy and Burra Madhusudhan. This has now become a huge headache for these YSRCP leaders
