Problem Of Plenty For BJP In Nagarjunasagar
By: Tupaki Desk | 21 Dec 2020 11:45 AM ISTThe Telangana BJP is now facing problems typically faced by the winning parties. Earlier, it had to search for the candidates to contest the elections, but today, there is a long queue of aspirants. Not just that, they are vying and competing with one another and are trying to undercut one another.
The BJP is upbeat these days especially after the huge wins in Dubbak byelections and the GHMC elections. Suddenly, the party is being seen as a winning party and leaders are flocking to the party. Also, competition has grown for the party tickets in the upcoming bypoll to Nagarjunasagar and the elections to the municipal corporations in Karimnagar and Khammam.
In case of Nagarjunasagar, there is stiff competition for the party ticket. While the party leadership is in talks with Congress veteran Jana Reddy's son Raghuveer Reddy and some TRS leaders, there is already an intense competition among the local leaders. For instance, K Nivedita Reddy, who contested from Nagarjunasagar in 2018, is trying to contest again. He has been lobbying hard for the party ticket. She is confident that she would romp home comfortably if the party gives her a ticket.
However, Kadari Anjaiah Yadav, a powerful local leader also is hoping to contest. Yadav was in the TDP till recently and got up to 27000 votes in 2004 assembly elections. He comes from the same Yadav caste that Nomula Narsimhaiah, who won in 2018, comes from. He feels he has a fair chance of winning due to caste equations and his own political contacts. He feels the rising graph of the BJP would help him in winning the seat. As of now, both the groups are working hard to drum up support and mobilize the workers. The party leadership is yet to take call.
