Professors Fear For Life After FB Posts Blame Them For Palghar Lynching
By: Tupaki Desk | 29 April 2020 1:26 PM ISTConfusion over photographs is proving to be a big problem for two professors of the Mumbai-based Tata Institute for Social Sciences. Their photos are being circulated on the social media, especially on the Facebook as being involved in the gruesome murder of two Hindu monks in Palghar recently.
The two professors â Anjali Moteiro and Jaya Shankar â have lodged a complaint with the police that their photographs are now in circulation on the social media and it is being claimed that they were the murderers. Both are well-known documentary film makers and winners of several prestigious awards. Though based on their complaint, the Facebook has taken down their pics, the photos have been shared and re-shared several times, they said and added that there was a threat to their lives. The posts on the social media blamed the duo for trying to secure bail for those involved in the horrendous lynching of two sadhus and their driver. Meanwhile, Kashtkari, an NGO working in Palghar area also denied that they were seeking bails for the arrested persons.
The two Sadhus were on their way to Silvasa to attend the last rites of their guru. En route, a section of tribals owing allegiance to the Leftist trade unions waylaid them and bludgeoned them to death. The police, who were present, remained mute spectators to the gruesome lynching.
