Now, Public can Nominate anyone for Padma Awards

For the first time ever, Government of India given an opportunity for the public to nominate achievers of their choice for the prestigious Padma Awards. This is move intended to maintain transparency by ending the culture of lobbying.
People could take part in the Nomination process to recommend achievers in various fields for the Padma Awards. To ensure Authenticity and Accountability, Nominators were asked to furnish their Aadhaar details.
Government of India claims this measure as major step towards making National Awards into People's Awards. The unsung heroes of India might get their due credit through this open nomination process.
So far, Government has received close to 2,000 nominations. September 15th will be last date for submitting the nominations online.
