Public Manhandled At Anna Canteen

AP Government launched as many as 100 Anna Canteens across the state in the first phase to stay in the good books of poor and low-middle class in election year. The Scheme was implemented in association with the Akshaya Foundation. Tiffin, Lunch & Dinner were served on daily basis. While public were charged just Rs 5 for each item, State Government is got ready to spend Rs 55 a Person for three meal per day.
Unfortunately, Over-crowding & Poor Management has been creating chaos at the Anna Canteens. Large number of people were keen to visit Anna Canteens as quality food is being served for low cost. Demand from public is multiple times more than what is being offered.
Population of Yemmiganur Mandal is over 1 lakh. Whereas, Food prepared at Anna Canteen would be sufficient for only 350 to 400 people. Municipal Commissioner who received information about over-crowding rushed to the spot and thrashed public to bring situation under control. The way Municipal Commissioner handled the chaos has drawn severe criticism. Poor People commented they had come to have food not to face fist blows.
