Puducherry Chief Minister loses Majority in floor test

The Congress-DMK alliance government in the Union Territory, Puducherry, which is going through a political crisis faced the floor test in the house on Monday. Chief Minister V Narayanasamy was made to face the test of strength with the members of the government resigning from their posts
The Congress-led government has lost the trust vote in the house in Puducherry. After losing the trust vote, Chief Minister V Narayanasamy has walked out of the house.
Things went upside down for the coalition government after two legislators have resigned from their positions on Sunday, bringing down the strength of the government in the house.
After the opposition has complained that the government has no majority in the house, union territory's new Lieutenant Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan ordered a floor test.
The Congress party had a strength of 15 members in the house out of 30 positions, while the DMK has two positions. Including an independent candidate, the government had a strength of 17 members. The majority strength is 16.
However, six MLAs have resigned from their posts in the past few weeks, which reduced the strength of the house to 26.
When the government needed the strength of 14 members in the house for the floor test, the CM lost the test after the government's strength was restricted to 12 including the Speaker.
After losing the floor test, the Chief Minister is said to have announced that he would resign from his post and he is expected to submit his resignation to Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan.
