The preliminary investigation report claimed that all the five victims were identified as the contractual laborers working at the five-storey building located in Manjari premises. The shocking incident took place on Thursday.
Days after the shocking incident, Shiv Sena supremo and Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray toured in Pune to visit the spot to estimate the loss caused by the fire mishap.
After visiting the SII plant in Pune, Uddhav Thackeray addressed the media over the fire mishap. Serum Institute of India CEO Poonawalla was also present during the press conference.
Talking at the press conference, Poonawalla said, the SII suffered a loss worth more than Rs 1,000 crore in the mishap. The fire mishap has damaged the equipment at the plant.
Adding further, Poonawalla said, though they faced a huge loss with the incident, this will not impact the supply of Coronavirus vaccine, Covishield.
The CEO went on to say that the SII has multiple facilities and the vaccines were not stored in the building where the fire mishap took place on Thursday.
"The first two floors of the building, where the fire erupted, were in use. The blaze occurred on the other two floors above them where new facilities were being created. The Covishield vaccine manufacturing unit is located at a distance from the site of the fire," the chief minister said.
