Pune to go under 12-hour curfew for one week starting from tomorrow

As a bid to bring the situation under control, the authorities have ordered a 12-hour curfew that lasts for at least one week. The 12-hour curfew will come into effect from 6 am tomorrow.
Revealing details on the curfew, Pune Divisional Commissioner Saurabh Rao said, for the coming next seven days, the Religious places, hotels and bars, shopping malls, and movie theatres will be shut.
However, the authorities said that all the services in the city will be suspended, while food, medicines can be delivered to home. The authorities have also permitted the other essential services during the 12-hour curfew.
The fresh development took place after Pune added more than 8,000 new infections for the second day in a row with not less than 8,011 new infections caused by the respiratory disease.
To counter the shortage of beds in the state, Pune Mayor Murlidhar Mohol issued directives to the private medical facilities to see that 80 percent of beds are dedicated to the Covid-19 patients.
Earlier, the Maharashtra government has imposed a night lockdown in Nanded and Beed districts to curb the infections. The lockdown is underway and will continue until further notice.
