Purandeshwari Disappoints Farmers

Senior BJP leader Daggubati Purandheswari's comments on Amaravati lands and YS Jagan's move to have three capitals for Andhra Pradesh have left former CM Chandrababu Naidu shocked. When a group of farmers from the Amaravati region met her and sought support to their agitation against three capitals, she said the BJP in principle has always backed decentralisation of power and devolution. She said there was nothing wrong in having three capitals, The farmers who met were linked to the TDP leaders. They did not expect this frank reply from Purandheshwari.

When the issue of the lands sold by the farmers in Amaravati, Purandheshwari said that the farmers had sold their lands to the Government of Andhra Pradesh and not to Chandrababu Naidu. She said there was nothing to worry. She said one has to wait till Jagan unveils his whole plan. Only then the farmers should think of agitation, she suggested. The farmers, who were sent by the TDP, went back empty handed.

Political pundits say Purandheshwari cannot oppose the proposal for three capitals as she was elected as an MP from Visakhapatnam LS constituency. She was also made a minister during the Manmohan singh government. Even in 2019 elections, she contested from Vizag on BJP tickets.. Given her interests in Vizag, she cannot afford to oppose the capital at Vizag, say political pundits. For now, it's disappointment for Chandrababu Naidu.
