She entered into the record books by emerging as the first Indian woman athlete to win a Silver or Gold medal in Olympics. The 21-Year-Old Hyderabadi will end up with a silver medal inspite of losing the final. Credit should go to her coach Pullela Gopichand as well.
Karanam Malleswari and Mary Kom bagged Bronze medals in 2000 Sydney and 2012 London Olympics. Shooter Abhinav Bindra is the only Indian to win a Gold Medal in Olympics in the individual category.
