With the deadly outbreak of COVID-19 ringing the danger bells many nations across the globe have started looking at potential measures to fight the novel coronavirus. In such measured, Qatar has suspended all the incoming flights for a two-week period as a precautionary measure.

This latest development came after a meeting between Qatar's Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and the Supreme Committee as part of the crisis management to fight the spread of the virus.

"Stopping all incoming flights to Doha, starting Wednesday evening, which corresponds to March 18, for a 14-day period that can be extended," the statement issued after the meeting read.

However, the cargo and the transit flights will not fall under the ban. The statement went on to say that the Qatar citizens will be allowed to enter the nation only after quarantined for two weeks.

The Health Ministry said that 7,950 people have been tested for the novel COVID-19 and reportedly four people have recovered from the virus.

"All the public, private and university students will begin distance learning from Sunday. The 12th grade students of public schools will sit exams on time and at the exams headquarters, which will be announced later," Lolwah Rashid AlKhater, assistant foreign minister and spokesperson for the ministry of foreign affairs said.
