10 days have passed since Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced ban on Rs 500 and Rs 1000 currency notes. While the announcement came on Wednesday, Banks began exchanging new currency from Thursday. ATMs began working from Friday. Except on Monday (Gurunanak Jayanti), All the Banks remained open and people were allowed to exchange/deposit old notes even during Weekend.

For the first one week, There is heavy rush at all the Banks and ATMs in the country. Long queues have been witnessed everywhere and People complained about the waiting hours. Common Man had been forced to ignore his other works during this period.

The situation began improving as days passed. Particularly, Queue Lines have become shorter on Wednesday. While Private Banks witnessed 50% decline, Nationalized Banks have see a reduction of around 20%.

Bank Officials say no. of people visiting Banks will decline further in the coming days as already lots of new currency notes have been dispensed.
