Indian interim captain Ajinkya Rahane produced heroics with the bat on day two of the second test against the Aussies today at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).

Rahane's unbeaten century of 104 off 200 deliveries helped India to score 277 for a loss of five wickets. By the end of day two, India put a lead of 82 runs. The game was ended 15 minutes early due to rain.

He made an unbeaten partnership of 104 runs for the sixth wicket with senior all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. Jadeja scored 40 runs.

The duo will resume the Indian innings tomorrow, day three of the second test. The partnership is crucial for India to put up a good score on the scoreboard.

From former Indian players like Sachin Tendulkar, Yuvraj Singh, Virender Sehwag to skipper Virat Kohli, everyone showered praises on Rahne's gutsy century which gave an advantage to the visitors in the game.

With this, Ajinkya Rahane became the second Indian captain to score a ton in the boxing day test, after legendary player Sachin Tendulkar. Rahane is the fifth Indian batsman to hit a ton in Australia.
