Will Chandrababu's dalliance with the Congress be appreciated by the Telugus in both the states? The chances are it could be rejected in both the states. For the past 30 years, both the TDP and the Congress have been arch rivals and the TDP has time and again said that anti-Congressism is the core of TDP philosophy. So, when Rahul Gandhi and Chandrababu share the stage, questions are bound to be raised.
In Telangana, the people look at this alliance as an unholy one. Most Telanganites feel the formation of Telangana was delayed because of Chandrababu's machinations. So, Telanganites might not like this alliance.
In case of Andhra Pradesh, the Telugus see the Congress as the arch villain responsible for the division of the united AP. They feel it is the Congress which has left AP impoverished and without financial resources. The people are unable to forget the role the Congress played in the division of the state and have defeated every Congressman in 2014. The anger is still there and it could rub off on the TDP as it is seeking to ally with the same party that is responsible for the AP's plight. So, the AP voters might reject the TDP along with the Congress.
