No Place For Telugus In Rahul Gandhi's Team
By: Tupaki Desk | 17 Feb 2018 7:27 AM GMTMuch to everyone's surprise, Newly-elected AICC President Rahul Gandhi didn't bother to offer prominence for any of the Party Leaders in Telugu States in the new Congress Steering Committee. Neither S Jaipal Reddy, K Jana Reddy and Ponnala Lakshmaiah from Telangana nor KVP Ramachandra Rao, Pallam Raju and JD Sheelam from AP found a place.
Telangana PCC chief Uttam Kumar Reddy, Former Ministers Geeta Reddy and Damodar Raja Narasimha lobbied for findng a place in the Steering Committee. Even they weren't included in the highest decision making body of Congress.
Does Rahul Gandhi feel the outdated ideas of T-Congress Leaders costed the party dearly post bifurcation? Was he of the feeling none of the existing AP Congress Leaders have the stature to be a Steering Committee Member? Whatever the reason could be, Congress Senior Leaders are upset with the tough decision taken by the Party President.
Rahul Gandhi's 34-Member Steering Committee include Sonia Gandhi, Manmohan Singh, AK Antony, P Chidambaram, Gulam Nabi Azad, Digvijay Singh and Janardhan Dwivedi. They will be working on the strategy to be adopted for the next general elections.
