During the 2015 Pushkarams to Godavari river, the state government wanted to take up modernization of the ghats at the Dharmapuri, the abode of Lord Narsaimha Swami. Instead of releasing money from the exchequer, the government directed the Dharmapuri temple authorities to take Rs 50 lakh from the Rajarajeshwara Swamy temple in Vemulawada. Accordingly, Rs 50 lakh were taken and developmental works were done at the Dharmapuri ghats. The state government on its part had assured to sanction Rs 2 crore to the Dharmapuri temple.
It's now 2021 and the contractors who have worked during the Pushkarams are yet to be paid. Their bills are pending for the past six years. Meanwhile, the pressure from Vemulawada temple is growing. It is demanding the repayment of the loan amount. Recently, the contractors appealed to the state government to release their arrears. The government is yet to take a decision. Meanwhile, Rajanna of Vemulawada is piling up pressure on Narsanna of Dharmapuri.
