CBN Told SCS Isn't Sanjeevani: Rajnath Singh
By: Tupaki Desk | 24 July 2018 10:11 PM ISTUnion Home Minister Rajnath Singh took part in the debate over Special Category Status and provisions of AP Reorganisation Act 2014 in Rajya Sabha Today. He reiterated NDA Government couldn't accord Special Category Status due to the recommendations of 14th Finance Commission.
On this occasion, Rajnath Singh reminded everyone that AP CM Chandrababu Naidu himself said Special Status isn't sanjeevani. He recalled Naidu & former Union Minister Sujana Chowdary welcoming Special Package, and passing a resolution in AP Assembly thanking Centre for it.
Rajnath Singh claimed NDA Government completed 90 percent of the promises in AP Reorganisation Act 2014. 'Though the report is against Visakha Railway Zone, We are keen to establish it. So far, We sanctioned Rs 6,754 crore for Polavaram Project and it will be completed in record time. We merged 7 Mandals of Telangana in AP in the first cabinet meeting itself,' he pointed out.
Home Minister took potshots at Rajya Sabha MP Sujana Chowdary during the debate. The TDP Leader was unable to offer a befitting reply as the fault is on his side.
Congress MPs Jairam Ramesh and Ghulam Nabi Azad demand BJP to clarify whether it would accord Special Status to AP or not. However, Centre remained firm on it's stand.
