Rallies,Road Shows face ban in Poll Bound states till Feb 11

The much-awaited polls will be held in a phased manner and the election battle will start from Uttar Pradesh, the land of gods. Ahead of the polls, the Election Commission of India took a key decision.
Taking the current Covid situation into consideration, the top election body had announced the extension of the ban on physical rallies and rallies. The ban is applicable till the 11th of February. However, the ECI had issued a few relaxations.
Despite the extension of bans for the meetings and rallies, the Election Commission said that the political parties can go for the meetings outdoors and the attendees should not be more than 1,000. Despite this, the Covid protocols should also be followed during the meetings.
On the other hand, the ECI had increased the limit for the door-to-door campaigns to 20 from the previous limit of 10 persons.
The decision was taken by the top election body when Chief Election Commissioner Sushil Chandra and a few other officials held a meeting. After considering the Covid situation, the ban was extended and more relations were granted.
“Chief Election Commissioner Sushil Chandra along with Election Commissioners Rajiv Kumar and Anup Chandra Pandey today held another comprehensive review of the present situation of Coxid-19 infection, particularly in the states of Goa, Manipur, Punjab, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh," the Election Body said in a statement.
